Located in South Texas, just about an hour from both Austin and San Antonio, our school is the realization of a dream that began several years ago. In 2020, we purchased the property with the vision of creating a dedicated space where makers could learn, create, and share their passion for woodworking. After completing our home in 2021, we began construction on the shop in 2023, designing it specifically to support woodturning education and hands-on learning. Today, we are excited to be preparing for our soft launch and welcoming our first students.

Craftsmanship has always been at the heart of our family story. Both James and Tawney grew up in families that valued making things by hand and passing skills from one generation to the next. James discovered woodworking alongside his grandfather, a respected local artist known for his intricate miniature carvings. Those early lessons sparked a lifelong passion for working with wood, and today he specializes in creating a wide variety of finely crafted turned pieces while sharing his knowledge with others. Tawney learned embroidery and needlework from her grandmother as a child. Her love of stitching, organization, and creative problem-solving continues to inspire many of the products and projects that come from Stitch In Turn today.

What began as a hobby evolved into a small business nearly ten years ago when we started experimenting with handcrafted tools for stitchers and fiber artists. By combining James's expertise in woodturning with Tawney's passion for sewing and needlework, Stitch In Turn grew into a maker-focused business dedicated to creating beautiful, functional, and customizable tools.

Today, in addition to our handcrafted products, we are excited to expand into education. Our goal is to provide a welcoming environment where beginners and experienced turners alike can develop their skills, explore their creativity, and enjoy the satisfaction of making something with their own hands.
